Canvas19™ is a year-round platform where students, artists, creators, and communities share their stories, culture, and creativity — in their own words, on their own terms.
A shared space rooted in celebration, reflection, and cultural connection — where writing, art, conversation, and public expression become the bridge between individual stories and collective memory.
Canvas19™ begins with the voices of select Historically Black Colleges and Universities — a deliberate act rooted in the spirit of Juneteenth. From that foundation, Canvas19™ will extend to verified students from a variety of schools and stories. Participating institutions to be announced.
Essays, poetry, personal narrative, and community storytelling — words as art.
Visual creativity, community installations, and expression that can be seen and felt.
Podcasts, dialogue, and shared voices that spark reflection and connection.
Public, civic, and cultural expression in the spaces where communities gather.
Our first community art project is already growing. Visit the Legacy Tree and add a leaf honoring someone whose life touched yours — a teacher, a grandparent, a neighbor, a friend. Click any leaf to read their story.
Visit the Legacy Tree →Every June 19th, Canvas19™ comes alive with its most vibrant expression — Juneteenth Joy®. A seasonal celebration of freedom, culture, memory, and community that supports and fuels the year-round platform.
